A musical reawakening

Sat Sep 13, 2008, 6:56 PM

MP3blogs are the road to true happiness.

After hours and hours every day for the last week or so downloading deathrock, post-punk, no-wave and the like, the current contents of my (tiny) iPod are:

Virgin Prunes
Christian Death
Super Heroines
Cinema Strange
Bauhaus
The Birthday Party
Theatre of Hate
UK Decay
The Laughing Mothers
Burning Image
Requiem In White
Elephant Talk
Flowers of The Past
Novocaine Mausoleum
Deadchovsky
Faith & The Muse
Nosferatu
Ghost Dance
Crossing Chaos
Police Bastard
Carcass
Discharge
Aus-Rotten

I love you, Internet.
There is something truly transcendent and haunting about this beautiful deathrock and post-punk music, this ghostly outpouring, that I love. It's the very antithesis of the shallow, banal and artless mainstream goth music scene. It is gorgeous, and I am so, so happy that there are MP3blogs where I can download it.

IN OTHER NEWS...

The blog needs updating pretty badly, I realize. The energy and interest just haven't hit me, for some reason.

Chugging along on my art school portfolio comic!

If you're in Second Life and will be around on Sunday night, IM me - Miraren Firefly - and I'll invite you to my house-swarming party!

...pie.

I saw your work in the "Bread and Circuses" zine! They were giving them out free at 924 Gilman. When I saw your drawing, I was like, "YAY!"

Why thank you! I'm still sort of... finding myself as an artist, technique-wise, so I'm glad I inspire someone who's so good. :3

I've been blogging about other (better-than-me) artists. You might enjoy it for some inspiration: [link]
